Roaming Assumptions

In general, mobile phone unsers may not be aware of every aspect of their mobile phone use when abroad.  Therefore, to contribute towards an accurate cost comparison, callcosts.ie uses a number of assumptions in making a calculation:

Calls back to Ireland:

Mobile opertors often charge different rates depending on whether you call a landline or another mobile network.  The website assumes that 50% of your calls back to Ireland are to Irish fixed lines, and 50% are to mobile networks.

Calls in the EU:

It is assumed that 100% of calls made are on your operator's partner network, where that network is available.

Roaming texts sent:

It is assumed that 90% of your roaming texts are sent to mobile numbers in Ireland and of the remaining 10% of texts sent, 50% of these are sent on a partner network.
